I couldn’t marry Raoul. It would not have been right. I realized, fortunately, that we were not meant to be before I condemned the pair of us to unhappiness. He would be better off with a woman of upstanding birth and wealth, and myself? Well, I wasn’t thinking of myself when I left that night, I only knew that I would be making a mistake if I wed Raoul.

We had grown up. We had grown apart, no matter that he refused to see it. Erik, if he showed me nothing else, showed me that I could only love Raoul in a perfect world. In a Fairytale. And Fairytales are just that.

I do though still believe that at the end of this story there is a Happily Ever After just for me. As childish as that sounds…

I left Raoul and returned to L’Populaire one last time. I suppose to say goodbye, though I don’t know where I planned on going. It was boarded up, closed because of the fire, the fire that I had caused and that still causes me much grief, but I found my way in.

And I stepped through the mirror one last time.

…And I found myself in another world, another time, years into the future. I found myself in Gotham City.

It was strange, I do not yet know why I am here, or how, but such questions seem trivial now.

Now that I’ve met Batman. Now that I’ve met Bruce Wayne.

I think this could be love.

But love has never been easy.

OOC: || This is an RP Journal, and a part of [info]theatrical_muse, which is lovely. I am not really Christine Daaé (obviously) and I do not own her or The Phantom of the Opera, as much as I wish that I did. The Phantom of the Opera is the property of Monsieur Gaston Leroux. Also many references are taken from Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, Susan Kay’s novel entitled Phantom, and DC Comics’ ‘Batman’. As you may have guessed I do not own any of these either (sadly enough). Please do not sue me, this is all in good fun. Also, this journal is AU (alternate universe) and if you have a problem with Phantom of the Opera/Batman Crossover…Well, I apologize and suggest you don’t read.
